Sad News About TMC Silver Spark Plug, Al Cohn

TMC Silver Spark Plug Al "The Tire Doctor" Cohn died April 28, 2021. He was 66 years old.
 
Alan E. Cohn, of North Canton, was born in Chicago, IL to David and Yvonne (Levy) Cohn, and following graduation from the University of Illinois at Chicago, he moved to Akron where he entered a lifelong career in the Commercial Truck Tire Industry, most recently with Pressure Systems International. His career provided ample opportunity for travel, and Alan enjoyed expanding business travel with family, and it enabled them to travel to several unique locations over the years.
 
Cohn was a long-time TMC member and a fixture in the Council’s S.2 Tire & Wheel Study Group, chairing many task forces and serving on many more. He was instrumental in the development of TMC’s portfolio of tire-related recommended practices and industry references such as the Radial Tire Conditions Analysis Guide. He was awarded TMC’s highest honor — The Silver Spark Plug — in 2001.
 
 

Cohn was known for a unique style of communicating technical concepts in an entertaining way, as evidenced by numerous educational sessions at TMC, most recently S.2’s series of “Tire & Wheel Family Feud” sessions.  He was a frequent guest on “Tech Talk With TMC,” a weekly segment of The Dave Nemo Show on SiriusXM’s Channel 146. He was known affectionately by many as “The Tire Doctor.”
 
 
Al is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Ingrid; children Marty Cohn and Daniel (Elisa) Cohn; grandchildren Eden and Moana; brother Mark (Karen) Cohn.

Private graveside services will be held Sunday, May 2 at 12:30pm at Canton Hebrew Cemetery with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. The live stream of the service can be viewed at the Arnold Funeral Home Facebook Page.
