I’m calling your attention to the new Task Force S.5 has created on “ Cybersecurity Issues”.  This first meeting will be on Monday February 27th at the Annual Meeting being held at the Music City Center in Nashville, TN.

It’s important that we get a good cross section of vehicle OEMs, 1st tier supplier and fleets to clearly define the scope and objectives moving forward. As you surely know by now, cybersecurity is not an option but a necessity to the heavy-truck industry.

If you are not planning to attend this meeting, please pass this email on to the appropriate person in you organization.

The Cybersecurity Issues Task Force will focus on fleet business and operations for security measures. Specific Task Force goals are:

  1. Combining completed research of multiple sources with TMC activity to address  cybersecurity procedures and practices to reduce risk.
  2. Develop guidelines for fleets to create their own cybersecurity programs for implementing internal organizational support to assess and respond to cybersecurity issues.
  3. Standardize Over-the-Air ECM programming through specific protocols that allow fail safe options and secure messaging.
  4. Work with SAE on strengthening related standards through fleet user participation.
  5. Evaluate reporting and respond alert programs for industry users housed by TMC and TSC with the assistance of FBI and DHS liaisons.
  6. Examine the possibility to develop a cyber intrusion challenge track as part of the SuperTech competition.
