  • April 7, Next Episode in S.7 Webinar Series

TMC’s S.7 Trailers, Bodies & Material Handling Study Group — through its Next Generation
Trailer Electrical/Electronic Architecture Task Force — is holding a series of webinars to present information on future trailer electrical/electronic/networking systems, based on specific manufacturers’ future plans in this area. The information presented will educate TMC fleet members and help S.7 develop an information report/position paper/technical policy advisory by TMC’s 2020 Fall Meeting to provide guidance for fleets in selecting smart trailer systems for the future. The Task Force will also use this information to help develop a recommended practice on the subject by TMC’s 2022 Annual Meeting.

The intent of the webinars is to remain commercial free as per TMC guidelines; however, attendees should recognize that each individual webinar will feature only one manufacturer to provide a deeper dive as to how various industry suppliers are approaching future electrical/electronic/networking design.

Some of the questions TMC will pose to the presenting manufacturers include:

    • What sensors and actuators is your system compatible with?
    • What ABS systems is your system compatible with?
    • What trailer refrigeration unit controls is your system compatible with?
    • What trailer telematics systems is your system compatible with?
    • What powering recommendations do you have?
    • What electrical cabling on the trailer do you recommend?
    • What communications method among the trailer units do you recommend?
    • What are your proposals for forward/backward compatibility?

The second webinar in the series will be held on April 7, 2020 from Noon to 1 pm featuring
Phillips Connect Technologies and its approach to smart trailers.
