The vast technological innovations that go into tire development can’t be understated
This is the library for the (S.1) Proper Tire Mounting With Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) TMC Task Forces
Chairman: Joseph Heath, Tire Industry Association, (513) 582-3260. This Task Force will develop guidelines for tire mounting procedures for tires and wheels equipped with TPMS sensors
Chairman: Dan Shy, The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., (330) 283-3817 This Task Force will attempt to discover causes and solutions to problems that limit tire durability and reliability in order to reduce tire operating costs. All causes of tire failures—including operation hazards, maintenance problems, manufacturing defects and retread and repair errors—will be addressed
TMC has published the new Tire & Wheel Study Group Survey Report: Fleet Expectations on Tire Sensors, which was conducted over the summer on behalf of its Tire & Wheel Study Group (S.2) to assess current use of tire sensors and telematics systems in tire management programs as well as expectations for future deployment and utilization of these technologies. The report can be found at https://tmc.trucking.org/blog/tire-wheel-study-group-survey-report-fleet-expectations-tire-sensors
Chairman: Judith Monte, Aperia Technologies, (248) 842-7992 This task force will develop technical resources for tire maintenance management for Class 7-8 commercial vehicles
Objective: To develop improved methods of analyzing and evaluating tire and wheel maintenance and performance, and to develop and disseminate information and reference materials which will serve as guides to obtaining maximum tire and wheel efficiency. The Study Group shall also work towards the improvement of tires, wheels, rims, tubes, and other attaching parts, and will seek solutions to new problems that may arise from technological changes in tires and wheels. Scope: To study the malfunctions, deficiencies, and failures of tire and wheel-end systems, and investigate future developments in tire and wheel-end componentry. The Study Group shall also conduct surveys, collect data, and monitor testing programs and research of affiliated industry groups in order to develop suitable Recommended Practices which fleet equipment users, manufacturers, and the tire repair/retread industry can follow
